ARREST FOR ARMED ROBBERY AT A YUCCA VALLEY SCHOOL

A teen who refused to return another student’s cell phone, and then flashed a gun in his waistband, was arrested Monday afternoon. According to a Sheriff’s report, the two boys are students at Yucca Valley Community Day School, in the 56000 block of Santa Fe Trail. One boy asked to borrow the victim’s cell phone about 12:15 p.m., but refused to return it. When the victim attempted to grab his phone, the suspect lifted the front of his shirt to reveal the grip of a black handgun in his waistband. The gun was later determined to be a BB gun. The suspect then fled east on Yucca Trail. When deputies located the suspect, he fled again but was pursued and soon captured. The boy, who was not identified due to his age, was arrested for investigation of armed robbery, and booked into the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall.
