AREA BOSSES CAN COMPETE AT BATTLE OF THE BELL TO BENEFIT COLLEGE ATHLETES

Reporter Mike Lipsitz says no one is ever too big or important to have some fun raising money for the cause …
With the launch of inter-collegiate men’s and women’s basketball at Copper Mountain College next fall, local high school heads have issued a challenge to raise scholarship money for CMC-bound student athletes. Halftime at this Friday’s Battle of the Bell football game at Yucca Valley High School promises a show like never before. Area scholastic and community leaders who have accepted the challenge will run a timed obstacle course. CMC Superintendent/President Jeff Cummings will referee and Yucca Valley High School Principal Carl Phillips will be there to administer oxygen. The winner will be crowned “Top Boss,” with the most generous donor receiving an Athletic Booster Club Charter membership worth $500.
Sponsors are still needed. Any potential “boss” can enter with a minimum contribution of $100, but hurry, because the entry deadline is tomorrow. Call Diana Morris at the CMC Foundation at 760-366-3791 ext. 4200.
