AN APARTMENT FIRE IN YUCCA VALLEY THIS MORNING

Firefighters battled an apartment fire in Yucca Valley early this morning. At 3:10 a.m., County Fire Battalion Chief Mike McClintock said someone called 911 about smelling smoke, which had also stained windows of an apartment in the 56200 block of Papago Trail. McClintock said crews from Yucca Valley, Yucca Mesa, and Joshua Tree entered to find a first floor room and its contents on fire. He added that no one was at home in the apartment at the time of the fire and no victims were found. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
