A BRUSH FIRE AT CAMP PENDLETON

A brush fire that broke out late Wednesday afternoon has charred 50 acres at Camp Pendleton, base officials said. The Vallecito Fire is burning off Roblar Road, in the northeast side of the base on the artillery range. Information about how the blaze began was not immediately available. It began shortly before 3 p.m. and was about 30 percent contained around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, the base said. Camp Pendleton firefighters are being assisted by Cal Fire personnel with aircraft.
