3 JOSHUA TREE RESIDENTS ARRESTED; ACCUSED OF HOME ROBBERY

Three Joshua Tree residents were arrested following an attempted robbery in Joshua Tree Wednesday. Deputies were called to the 6400 block of Center Street about 4 a.m. Wednesday for a disturbance. The residents said that three suspects—later identified as Thomas Lauer, 42; Brooke Mackie, 36; and Dominic Colegio, 32; had gone to the house to steal a dog from Mackie’s previous relationship. Mackie, Lauer, and Colegio pounded on the front door and broke the door’s glass in an attempt to gain entry into the house. The residents called 911 while barricading the front door with furniture to keep the suspects out. Mackie, Lauer, and Colegio fled before deputies arrived. Deputies and the victim viewed surveillance video, and the victim identified the suspects. Brooke Mackie, Thomas Lauer, and Dominic Colegio were arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and booked into the West Valley Detention Center with Mackie’s bail set at $200,000 and Lauer’s bail set at $100,00. Colegio’s bail was unavailable.
