3-DAY WEEKENDS BRING HOLIDAY TRAFFIC: SOME SAFETY TIPS

Three-day holiday weekends typically bring a spike in traffic. Caltrans is advising motorists that traffic may impact your Labor Day weekend. To make your traveling easier, plan ahead so you know before you go. Monitor traffic and weather via radio, TV, and social media. Use Caltrans Quickmap to monitor traffic and CHP incidents. Make sure your car is in good working order. Check your tires, oil and fluids and leave with a full tank of gas. Plan ahead for rest stops and leave early in the morning if possible. Bring snacks, medications and enough water for all passengers including pets. Take a charged cell phone and car charger. Lastly, expect delays during peak travel times Sunday and Monday for return traffic.
