The annual 29 Palms Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony will take place at 29 Palms City Hall on Tuesday, December 1st starting at 5 pm. The Gospel Fellowship Christian Center Church choir, led by choir director Cassandra Haney, will perform holiday songs for the crowd as well as join with the community in a sing-a-long. Mayor Pro-Tem Dan Mintz will welcome the community and light the tree. About 5:55, Santa will arrive riding on a Twentynine Palms fire truck passing out candy canes and greeting children. Soroptimists, along with help from the 29 Palms Rotary and Kiwanis will provide hot chocolate, cookies and cupcakes to those in attendance.

In Morongo Valley it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. And this Tuesday, December 1st Christmas goes into high gear when Santa takes a break from the North Pole to attend the community Christmas tree lighting at the Morongo Valley Fire Department from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The whole family is invited to enjoy the tree lighting and entertainment from the Morongo Valley Elementary School Christmas Carolers, cookies and hot chocolate provided by the Morongo Valley Chamber, visits with Santa and even roasted s’mores around the fire pit. The Fire Department is located just off the highway on Ocotillo Street. For Z107.7 News, this is assignment reporter Mike Lipsitz.
