MAN ACCUSED OF ATTEMPTED MURDER IN YUCCA VALLEY

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Sunday, accused of attempted murder. Deputies were called to the 58200 block of Aracadia Trail in Yucca Valley about 5 p.m. Sunday for an assault. The victim—who was not identified—told deputies that there had been an argument with Jason Driscoll, 34, and during the argument, Driscoll assaulted and choked the victim, and threatened to kill the victim. The victim lost consciousness during the assault. The victim told deputies that he or she believed death was imminent during the assault. After an investigation, Jason Driscoll was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $1 million.

CHP STILL LOOKING FOR DRIVER, VEHICLE IN HIT-AND-RUN IN TWENTYNINE PALMS LAST WEEK

The California Highway Patrol still has not located the vehicle or driver suspected of driving over a man’s legs in Twentynine Palms last week. Last Thursday, February 20, 22-year-old Trever Evans was underneath his vehicle checking for possible damage on the right shoulder of Meldora Avenue, north of Indian Trail in Twentynine Palms about 2:50 p.m. While he was under his vehicle, a passing SUV ran over his legs that were sticking out from under the vehicle. The SUV is described as a newer model, small, sporty, and black with unknown dealer license plates. The SUV continued south on Meldora Avenue to the stop sign and turned westbound on Indian Trail. Trever Evans was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs with major injuries to both legs. Anyone with information on the vehicle and driver should call the CHP office at 760-366-3707.

TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS STREET VENDORS AND PROJECT PHOENIX

Tonight, the Twentynine Palms City Council meets to discuss a development code amendment regarding transient selling, peddling, soliciting, sidewalk vending and mobile food trucks.

The Tourism Business Improvement District Sub-Committee, which consists of Mayor Joel Klink and Councilmember Steven Bilderain, will make a recommendation to the City Council for an appointment to the TBID Advisory Board.

The Council will discuss and likely authorize City Manager Frank Luckino to negotiate and execute an agreement with Tilden-Coil Constructors regarding the multi-purpose facility and Joshua Tree National Park Cultural and Visitor Center in Project Phoenix. The project is not to exceed $1.1M.

The Twentynine Palms City Council begins at 6 pm at City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road.          

YUCCA VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF CHILD ENDANGERMENT

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Saturday, accused of child endangerment. Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in the 58800 block of San Marino Drive in Yucca Valley about 9:30 a.m. Saturday for a domestic disturbance. Deputies learned that Jason Shelton, 38, threatened to set three children and another person on fire inside the home. Shelton was uncooperative with deputies and assaulted them when they took him into custody. Jason Shelton was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, making criminal threats, resisting arrest, and on multiple warrants. Jason Shelton was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $125,000.

YUCCA VALLEY WOMAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULT

A Yucca Valley woman was arrested Sunday, accused of assault. Deputies were called to the 6400 block of Fortuna Avenue in Yucca Valley about 5:15 p.m. Sunday. According to deputies, Olga Salvador, 30, was arguing with a man and pulled a knife on him. The victim said Salvador pressed the knife blade against his chest, and stabbed the doorway multiple times with the knife, next to where the victim was standing. Olga Salvador was arrested on suspicion of assault, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with her bail set at $50,000.
