The Morongo Basin Conservation Association will hold its annual meeting Saturday, January 25, starting at 10 a.m. Keynote speakers include Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent David Smith, and an associate director of the National Parks Conservation Association, Chris Clarke, who will discuss sustainable tourism. The meeting at the Yucca Valley Community Center is free and open to the public. A light lunch will also be provided.
The Homestead Valley Community Council will meet at 3 p.m. Monday, January 20, at Belfield Hall in Landers. Dawn Rowe plans to be at the meeting to keep community members up-to-date, listen to comments on rural issues, and answer questions. Representatives from State Senator Shannon Grove’s office, the Sheriff’s Department, County Fire, and CalFire are also scheduled to attend. Belfield Hall is located at 58380 Reche Road in Landers.
In Copper Mountain College basketball today, the men’s Fightin’ Cacti teams will host Cerro Coso College at home. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
