An emergency call for blood has been issued by The American Red Cross. With more here’s reporter Anthony Abraria…

The American Red Cross is facing a critical blood shortage and has issued an emergency call for blood and platelet donors of all types. During the last two months, about 61,000 fewer donations were given, causing a significant draw-down of the Red Cross blood supply, as blood donations are being distributed to hospital faster than donations are coming in. Donations are critically needed now so that patients can continue to receive life-saving treatments. To make an appointment to donate blood, use the blood donor app, visit, or call 800-RED CROSS. Adding an In Case of Emergency, or ICE, contact to your cell phone can help emergency personnel contact your friends or loved ones if you are badly injured in an accident and can’t speak for yourself. Reporter Edica Gonzalez explains this simple idea…

Your emergency contact person should be someone who knows your medical history and how to contact your family, such as a spouse, significant other, parent, or good friend. Then, on your cell phone, create a new contact named I-C-E with the person’s name and phone number, address, and their relationship to you under notes. It’s a good idea to have at least two ICE contacts, labeled 1 and 2. If you have a password protected phone, there are ICE apps that you can add to your locked screen page that don’t require a password for emergency personnel to access. Search for “ICE” or “ICE lock screen” in your app store to find one that works on your phone. It’s also a good idea to keep an ICE card in your wallet in case your phone is lost or broken. Theatre 29 has big plans for its new Serenity Patio just to the east of the theater building. This area includes a giant Simi Dabah sculpture, reminiscent of the iconic Comedy and Drama masks, a beautiful garden, and seating area. Managing editor Tami Roleff says that you, too, can be a part of the Serenity Patio…

Along with the Simi Dabah sculpture and seating area is a wall that is covered with custom-engraved tiles. The tiles are purchased by volunteers, businesses, and members of the community who want to show their support for Twentynine Palms’ community theater. Two sizes are available: 4-by-8 inches, for $85, or 8-by-8 inches, for $150, and the tiles can be engraved with a message or logo of your choice. The funds raised will be used to retire the theater’s debt. To order a brick, call Cindy Daigneault at 760-366-8471. Reporting for Z107.7, this is managing editor Tami Roleff.
