2 ARRESTED AFTER A 10-MILE PURSUIT THROUGH TWENTYNINE PALMS

Two people were arrested Friday following a pursuit through Twentynine Palms. About 10 p.m., a deputy tried to stop a white Honda Accord near Homestead Drive and Smoke Tree Avenue because it didnā€™t have a front license plate. The driver, later identified as Huot Kuot, 42, refused to yield and led deputies on a 10-mile pursuit through the city. Deputies say Kuot drove at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour through multiple residential areas and also drove through intersections without stopping. When the Honda finally stopped near Lori Lane and Mesa Drive, Kuot jumped out of the car and fled on foot. Deputies were able to capture him without incident. A passenger in the car, Angela Zamora, 39, also tried to run on foot but she was also detained. Huot Kuot was arrested for investigation of felony failure to yield and for multiple warrants, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $100,000. Angela Zamora was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, cited, and released.
