11% OF THE COUNTY HAS TESTED POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS

More than a quarter of a million San Bernardino County residents have had confirmed cases of the coronavirus since the pandemic began. As of Monday (Jan. 18) an additional 2,881 cases were identified, bringing the county’s total to 254,094, equal to about 11% of the county population. For the fourth day in a row, no new deaths from the virus were reported. A total of 1,560 people in the county have died of the virus. An additional 19,378 tests were administered, bringing the total to 2,018,365. Meanwhile, 254 more people were considered recovered from the disease, bringing the total to 231,427.

Here are the latest San Bernardino County numbers…

Confirmed cases: 254,094 total, up 9,061 from Friday, Jan. 15, averaging 3,192 reported per day in the past week

Deaths: 1,560 total, no change from Friday, averaging 2.0 reported per day in the past week

Hospital survey: 1,511 confirmed and 51 suspected patients hospitalized Sunday, including 322 confirmed and six suspected patients in the ICU, with 25 of 25 facilities reporting. The number of confirmed patients is down 12.2% from a week earlier.

Coronavirus: California reported 17,983 new cases and 201 new deaths, hospitalizations continue to decline.

People tested: 2,018,365 total, up 66,664 from Friday, averaging 20,893 reported per day in the past week.

Resolved cases (estimate): 231,427 total, up 14,585 from Friday, averaging 3,054 per day in the past week.

Metrics tracked by the state:
ICU availability: 0.0% across Southern California
New cases per day per 100,000 residents: 140.2
Case rate adjusted for testing volume: 102.8
Test positivity rate: 24.1% (26.0% in socioeconomically challenged neighborhoods)

What that means: Southern California is under a stay-home order because of the low ICU availability. When that is lifted, San Bernardino County will return to a color-coded tier with restrictions based on the other metrics.
